Week of March 6-10

Hello everyone,

This Marking Period ends in two weeks, on Friday, March 17th, and Parent/Teacher conferences will be the following week on Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th. Check your grade on Pupilpath, and make sure you see all of your teachers if you need to complete any make up work!

Monday

Periods 1, 5 and 7

Classwork: Reading Logs for last week are due. Go over Strategies for Reading Unfamiliar Words. Complete Plagiarism Scenarios Worksheet.

Homework: 10 pages of Independent Reading, and write a response on one Writing Strategy from your book.

Periods 2 and 6

Classwork: Reading Logs from last week are due. Review Friday's Multiple Choice quiz.

Homework: 10 pages of Independent Reading, and write a response on one Writing Strategy from your book.

Tuesday

Periods 1, 5 and 7

Classwork: Complete self-assessment of Injustice Letter, and compare to your actual grade. Make a to-do list of what you need to accomplish to improve the letter, based on teacher and peer feedback.

Homework: Read your letter out loud to someone else, and have them write down feedback for you on your letter.

Periods 2 and 6

Classwork: Begin Synthesis Essay. Read through sources A-F and determine if they are pro/con/qualify/neutral.

Homework: Rough draft of a synthesis essay based on today's prompt and sources.

Wednesday

Periods 1, 5 and 7

Classwork: Complete a peer review of your injustice letter.

Homework: 10 pages of Independent Reading, and write a response on one Writing Strategy from your book.

Periods 2 and 6

Classwork: Read the rubric for the Synthesis Essay, and grade your essay and see what you need to do to improve it.

Homework: 10 pages of Independent Reading, and write a response on one Writing Strategy from your book. (And if you didn't complete your Synthesis essay draft, complete it tonight!)

Thursday

Periods 1, 5 and 7

Classwork: Meet in computer lab. Using the revision and editing checklists, make any changes you need to your Injustice Letters.

Homework: 10 pages of Independent Reading, and write a response on one Writing Strategy from your book.

Periods 2 and 6

Classwork: Read and annotate sources A-F from the new Synthesis Essay on Monolingualism.

Homework: Create an outline for your Synthesis essay for tomorrow's test.

Friday

Periods 1, 5 and 7

Classwork: Meet in the computer lab. Make any final changes to your Injustice Letter.

Homework: Make any final changes to your Injustice Letter, due at 10:00 PM Friday Night! There will be a gallery walk on Monday, so make sure your work is ready to be put up on the wall!

Periods 2 and 6

Classwork: Synthesis Essay Test: Monolingualism.

Homework: 10 pages of Independent Reading, and write a response on one Writing Strategy from your book.
